We have been involved in a few projects since Mark Haak volunteered on a Rotary International group study exchange to Ethiopia and Uganda in 2007.
He had an opportunity to visit Africa with Rotary and while there he met with several other designers, developers and artists to exchange cultural leanings. He learned about the many challenges facing communication in Africa and he spoke about graphic design in North America to dozens of groups, businesses, non-profits and Rotary clubs including an international Environmental conference with over 1200 attendees.
Mark was able to spend every day living with locals in their homes and experiencing African culture first hand. He visited dozens of Rotary projects including AIDS hospitals, home building projects, clean water projects and even had an opportunity to help build a school for deaf and mentally challenged children.
He posted a blog while he traveled and shared his stories and photos to thousands of viewers and when he returned we published a book, East Africa – A Rotary Group Study Exchange, to share the experience with others.
We designed a series of multimedia presentations including videos to share with the groups we met with and printed brochures and business cards to distribute.
